{ the good batch }

{ Stroopwafel }

The Good Batch began with a simple mission:
 bake pure, not overly sweet, delicious food. { smart woman, eh?}

Anna Gordon, the founder and pastry chef of The Good Batch, has a lot of Dutch people in her life, and after years of receiving eager requests for making fresh stroopwafels, she finally did it. And it worked. To get the texture and taste fully saluted by her Dutch counterparts, Anna committed several months, dozens of batches and countless taste testings to create the Classic Stroopwafel. While she was at it, she figured she might as well come up with some of her own variations.

Stroll on down to milk & honey to see what the dutch had up their sleeve in two luscious flavors- classic spiced caramel & cocoa.

{ I get  to live here}

Sometimes living at the end {edge} of the earth poses some logistical issues {read psychological}. But then there are the mornings that I get to wake up and see this and somehow everything else falls by the wayside.

{ seasonal goodness }

{ back porch collection }

Not too long ago the fabulous Dr. Brent Ridge of Beekman 1802
dropped me a line announcing  the Beekman 1802 Back Porch Collection.

Beekman 1802 has always been devoted to seasonal living--
appreciating the best of what each season brings.

The only place better to reflect on life than the back porch is in a
luxurious bath.  That was the inspiration for The Back Porch Collection---
four soaps whose scents capture the essence of each season as witnessed
from the back porch of Beekman Farm.

This collection is encased in a hand-crafted red cedar keepsake box
with a lid fashioned as a  screen door.

Spring: a light blend of sweet florals with a vanilla top note

Summer: a vibrant explosion of summer blossoms and fruits

Autumn: a soothing blend of musk with hints of sandalwood and cedar

Winter: crisp and minty just like that first breath of the clean winter air

The sleek hurricane and traditional copper base of Bodha Lantern turns a simple candlestick into a more firey accent. Use solo or pair two or three for a dining centerpiece. And don’t forget, the Bodha Lantern has utilitarian functionality when stormy weather knocks out the electric.  And don’t forget, the Bodha Lantern has utilitarian functionality when stormy weather knocks out the electric.
